Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate from Kanpur, and her father, Rakesh Singh, have launched a sit-in protest outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office in Delhi. This protest arises after the NTA dismissed claims by Arya and other candidates that their examination results had been altered. The agency countered these allegations, stating that the images circulating online were fabricated or digitally altered, and did not align with official records.
Arya Singh contends that her NEET-UG 2026 re-examination score was changed post-announcement. Initially, she reported seeing a score of 570 marks, which was later adjusted to 167. Arya further pointed out discrepancies in the OMR sheet she received from the NTA, citing issues like a missing question number and duplicate serial numbers. After voicing her concerns, she claims the agency provided her with another OMR sheet, reflecting a score of 609 marks.
Despite the NTA’s assurances that all original OMR sheets correspond to the published scores and that secure identifiers such as barcodes and QR codes are present on official documents, Arya and her father remain unconvinced. Rakesh Singh, a former soldier, expressed dissatisfaction with the NTA’s explanations and vowed to continue their protest until their concerns are addressed. He has also reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking intervention and action against what he considers to be examination process irregularities.
This controversy is tied to the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination conducted on June 21, following the cancellation of the original exam in May due to allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation is actively investigating this case, adding further complexity to the situation.
