The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of collaborating following a protest led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the NEET exam controversy. The demonstration took place near the Prime Minister’s residence and has sparked allegations from AAP about its true intentions.
AAP Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh suggested that the protest was strategically permitted by the government as a distraction from the ongoing student-led campaign demanding accountability for the NEET paper leak. He argued that such actions only served to weaken the broader public movement focused on addressing the exam issue.
Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Atishi raised concerns about the government’s inconsistent approach to protests. She highlighted how student protesters and activists, who demonstrated near Parliament, faced police restrictions, whereas Rahul Gandhi was allowed to protest near the Prime Minister’s residence and his demonstration drew a swift government response.
The criticism intensified after Union Minister Jitendra Singh met with Rahul Gandhi at the site of the protest, expressing the government’s willingness to discuss NEET-related issues in Parliament. Despite this, the protest concluded with the police detaining Rahul Gandhi and several Congress Members of Parliament.
This incident has underscored rising tensions among opposition parties, with AAP accusing the Congress of indirectly aiding the BJP instead of backing the larger student movement. The disparity in how protests are handled has been a focal point of AAP’s grievances, as it argues for equal treatment of all demonstrations.
