Tensions flared in the Lok Sabha following accusations from Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who charged Union Home Minister Amit Shah with authorizing force against students protesting the NEET paper leak. Gandhi’s claim that pellet guns were used on demonstrators under high-level orders sparked immediate backlash from members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In response, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju demanded that Gandhi provide evidence to back his allegations, labeling them as unfounded and urging for their removal from the official record. Rijiju called on Gandhi to issue an apology, emphasizing that such grave accusations should not be made without substantial proof.
The session became more contentious as Gandhi proceeded to criticize the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), using language that Speaker Om Birla deemed “unparliamentary.” These remarks were subsequently expunged from the official parliamentary proceedings.
