Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, urging young Indians to spearhead a nationwide movement against drug abuse. This campaign initiates a 100-week drive focused on public participation, featuring activities such as sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programs, and community outreach efforts, scheduled to take place every Sunday.
In a virtual address to the campaign participants, Modi highlighted the threat posed by drug trafficking, which he claimed is used by hostile forces to undermine India’s interests and weaken its youth. He stressed the importance of safeguarding young people from addiction as a crucial step toward building a developed India, or ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Modi commended the involvement of over one crore youths from diverse backgrounds in the campaign, emphasizing their role in leading the charge against drug use. He noted that large numbers of young individuals have committed to living drug-free lives and are pledging to raise awareness within their communities about the dangers of drug addiction.
The initiative aims to mobilize young people across the nation, encouraging them to actively participate in creating a drug-free society. By engaging in various awareness activities, participants are expected to not only keep themselves away from drugs but also influence others to join the movement, fostering a healthier and more prosperous future for India.
Through this campaign, the Indian government seeks to address the drug abuse issue at its roots, with a particular focus on youth empowerment and community engagement. The coordinated effort over the next 100 weeks is intended to create a sustained impact, promoting a culture of awareness and prevention that aligns with the vision of a developed nation.
