Heavy Rain Causes Flood-Like Conditions in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur and Durg Districts

by admin477351

Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has led to flood-like conditions in several parts of Chhattisgarh, significantly impacting daily life in the Raipur and Durg districts. The Kharun River’s rising levels have resulted in widespread waterlogging, affecting roads and homes, particularly in low-lying areas.

In Raipur and Durg, major roads and riverside villages have been submerged. The road linking Raipur, Patan, and Durg via Mahadev Ghat has been severely affected, disrupting traffic flow. Additionally, the Raipur-Bhilai route through Mahadev Ghat is experiencing significant waterlogging, complicating travel for commuters.

Villages such as Amleshwar and Khudmuda in the Durg district are among the hardest hit. Residents face challenges in mobility due to strong water currents and submerged roads, which have made navigation difficult and hazardous.

Weather forecasts indicate the possibility of further rainfall and thunderstorms in the region, heightening concerns about continued water accumulation in the affected areas. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, as the persistent rainfall threatens to exacerbate the conditions in low-lying and riverside zones.
