Trump Denies Knowledge of Potential US Military Strike on Iran This Weekend

by admin477351

U.S. President Donald Trump stated he was unaware of any plans for a United States military strike on Iran this weekend, following comments by U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack. Trump, speaking to reporters in Florida on Friday, responded to inquiries about Barrack’s remarks, saying, “If that’s the case, I don’t know anything about that.”

Ambassador Barrack, in a Friday interview, suggested a U.S. strike on Iran could occur as early as the weekend, while emphasizing that President Trump remained open to a diplomatic resolution. Barrack noted that discussions had been ongoing for months, underscoring that Washington was not pursuing regime change in Iran. He highlighted the U.S. president’s focus on addressing security concerns while maintaining the possibility for negotiations.

The comments come amid heightened tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has consistently advocated for the removal of Iran’s clerical leadership, accusing Tehran of engaging in activities that threaten Israeli security. Netanyahu has also reiterated Israel’s commitment to preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

The differing statements have introduced uncertainty regarding U.S. policy towards Iran. As diplomatic efforts continue, there is concern about a potential escalation of military confrontation in the Middle East. The situation remains fluid, with U.S. officials balancing security concerns with diplomatic dialogue.
