Pralhad Joshi has assumed additional responsibilities as India’s Education Minister, marking the start of his new role with a comprehensive review of significant education initiatives and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Shortly after taking office at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi, Joshi engaged in discussions with senior officials from the Departments of School Education and Higher Education to gain insights into the ongoing projects managed by the ministry.

In his initial remarks, Joshi admitted that the education sector represents a new area of responsibility for him. He emphasized that he would need some time to thoroughly familiarize himself with the ministry’s operations before offering any detailed comments on future plans. His primary focus is currently on understanding the department’s current activities and ensuring the ongoing success of major educational programs.

The decision to appoint Joshi to this role came after President Droupadi Murmu accepted the resignation of the previous Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. As Joshi steps into this position, he expressed his commitment to upholding the continuity of key educational schemes and further advancing the objectives outlined in the NEP 2020.

Emphasizing the trust placed in him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Joshi highlighted his dedication to effectively managing the education portfolio. His approach includes maintaining the momentum of existing programs while gradually deepening his understanding of the department’s intricacies.
