The Delhi government is set to roll out a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure initiative, known as the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, starting September 17. This initiative, announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, aims to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service by launching and laying the foundation for projects totaling approximately ₹13,800 crore throughout the national capital.
To kick off the campaign, a substantial blood donation drive is scheduled for September 17, with a goal of collecting 2,500 units. In addition to promoting organ donation, the government plans to host health camps specifically for senior citizens. The month-long programme will also encompass a variety of community services, including sanitation efforts, initiatives to clean the Yamuna River, and registration camps for government welfare schemes across all 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi.
Significant investment is planned for projects along the Yamuna, with around ₹8,000 crore expected to be allocated during the campaign. Furthermore, more than 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers will be recognized and celebrated for their contributions. The initiative extends to the younger generation, with activities designed for students and young people in approximately 5,000 schools. These activities will include painting and speech competitions, as well as an innovation challenge aimed at generating ideas for advancing India’s development.
Among the projects initiated during this campaign, the Delhi Jal Board will oversee works valued at ₹8,000 crore. Additional projects include ₹2,800 crore dedicated to PWD projects, ₹1,500 crore for power sector developments, ₹365 crore for irrigation and flood control initiatives, and ₹77 crore allocated to tourism projects. These efforts collectively demonstrate the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and welfare across the region.
