Nishikant Dubey, a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party, addressed concerns surrounding the recent NEET-UG paper leak on Thursday. Dubey remarked that some students might be using the incident as an excuse for their underperformance, suggesting these individuals assure their parents they could have excelled if not for the compromised exam. He emphasized that aspiring doctors, engineers, and civil servants should achieve success based on education and merit.
Dubey also highlighted the government’s swift response to the leak, mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s insistence on severe repercussions for those involved. Modi has advocated for the 13 people arrested in connection with the leak to face expedited justice through fast-track courts, asserting that anyone jeopardizing the futures of students will face strict consequences.
In light of the incident, the government has expressed readiness to engage with protesting groups. Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh have extended invitations to meet with the protesters at their official offices or residences, indicating an openness to dialogue.
Despite these overtures, demonstrators continue to demand accountability and have called for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They have announced plans for nationwide peaceful protests to further their cause, insisting on transparency and responsibility in the handling of the paper leak scandal.
