The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has accepted the resignations of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, and trustee Anil Mishra amid a probe into alleged misappropriation of funds meant for the Ram Mandir. Trust treasurer Govind Giri confirmed that the resignations were in line with the trust’s constitutional guidelines. He also took a moment to commend Rai for his significant contributions to the organization since its beginning.
These resignations come in the wake of accusations concerning irregularities in the handling of donations for the temple. Senior trust member Pankaj Jaiswal expressed deep disappointment, labeling the incident as both painful and disgraceful. He emphasized that any wrongdoing involving the hard-earned contributions of devotees is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
Following the resignations, the trust has appointed Krisha Mohan as the interim General Secretary. Govind Giri will continue to serve in his role as treasurer. The trust is scheduled to reconvene on July 22, by which time the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is expected to deliver its final report on the matter.
Giri has made it clear that the trust will not shield anyone found culpable, emphasizing that all accused individuals will be subject to legal action, no matter their position. So far, eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of donations, and the investigation is still underway.
